Three people have been arrested following an investigation into the murder of a man whose body was found at McLaren Falls last week.

The body of Mitchell Curtis Rehua Paterson - a Ngāruawāhia local - was found in the water at McLaren Falls, west of Tauranga on Friday.

Hamilton CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Daryl Smith says since the discovery and subsequent investigation, three men have been arrested.

"One, a 27-year-old man, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder.

"A 49-year-old man has been charged with presenting a firearm at police and unlawful possession of a firearm.

"And a 33-year-old man has been charged with breach of release conditions."

All three have been remanded in custody.

There is a scene examination currently under way at a Hamilton property.

Excellent outcome. Get these scumbags off the street. Absolutely nothing positive to add to Society. All negative.
