SH29 still closed following truck crash

Update 10.30am - State Highway 29 will remain closed for a further two to four hours following a truck crash near the summit.

The closure follows the crash which happened just west of Soldiers Road at about 5.40am, says a police media spokesperson.

"State Highway 29 - the Kaimai Ranges – will remain closed for another two to four hours after a truck's trailer rolled this morning.

"A crane is needed to remove the trailer and diversions remain in place."

Earlier:

State Highway 29 is still closed this morning following a truck crash near the summit.

NZTA says the vehicle recovery operation is well underway.

'Vehicle recovery is well underway and contractors are hopeful of fully reopening the road by 10.30am.”

A crane has been brought in to remove the trailer of a truck and trailer unit that rolled, just west of Soldiers Road, at 5.40am.

Police say no one was injured in the crash.

Currently, motorists are being diverted and are either having to travel via SH2 or SH36 to get to the Waikato.
