UPDATED 3.46PM: Emergency services are currently working at the scene of a seven-vehicle crash on the Maungatapu Bridge, Tauranga.
Police were called to the scene about 3.15pm.
Initial reports indicate there are no serious injuries.
The road is closed, and diversions will be in place, says a police spokesperson.
"Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible."
EARLIER:
Reports are coming in of a crash on Maungatapu Bridge.
A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there appear to be multiple cars involved and the road is blocked.
Police are at the scene.
Another caller says traffic is backed up to Baypark and police are turning motorists around.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area if possible or expect delays.
Meanwhile, no one has been injured following a single-vehicle crash in Welcome Bay.
"Police received a report of a single-car crash in Welcome Bay at around 2.40pm.
"It occurred on the intersection of Kaitemako Road and Panorama Drive.
"No injuries, the road was initially reported as blocked but is now clear."

the road was at fault, the mobile phone had to be answered, the text had to be read, the other vehicle appeared from one where what the heck is going on, on our roads!!
