Update 12.50pm - Two cars have crashed on State Highway 29 in the Tauriko area.

A photographer at the scene says the crash has happened outside Gull Tauriko.

"Two cars, a ute and a hatchback have collided."

One car is partially blocking the road, however traffic in the area is flowing.

Reports are coming in about a crash near State Highway 29.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says the crash has happened in the Tauriko area near Cambridge Road.

"Emergency services are in the area.

"Traffic is beginning to build up."
