Seven vehicles nicked in one night in Tauranga

Police are telling motorists to be extra vigilant when parking cars.

Police have increased their patrols and are warning people to remain vigilant following a spate of vehicles thefts this week.

Tauranga Area Response Manager Senior Sergeant Eddie Lyttle says seven vehicles were reported stolen from the Tauranga area on Tuesday night.

'The areas where most vehicles were stolen were 11th to 15th Ave on the streets surrounding the commercial area.

'Cars parked on the side of the road are being targeted. Two have been recovered so far and enquiries are ongoing to locate the others.

'We have increased patrols in the area and would like to remind motorists to be extra vigilant when parking their cars.”

Eddie is urging people to park in well-lit areas where possible, lock their vehicle and don't leave valuable items inside their vehicle.
