People in the Bay of Plenty, including Tauranga, are being warned to brace for heavy rain today.
The MetService has issued a severe weather warning for the Bay of Plenty.
It says heavy rain is being forecast for Westland and Eastern Bay of Plenty.
“An active front moves northeastwards across the South Island tonight, and onto the North Island during Friday, bringing a burst of heavy rain.
“The heaviest falls are expected in the ranges of Westland, and in eastern Bay of Plenty, which has been added to this warning.”
Heavy rain has fallen in Fiordland, but has now eased, and the warning has been lifted.
