Police are investigating an incident where a child has been critically injured in Tauranga.

A police spokesperson says police were called to a property in Maungatapu yesterday, where a child had been injured.

'Police are investigating how the injuries were sustained and are conducting enquiries in the Maungatapu area this morning in relation to this investigation.

'The child was transferred to Starship Hospital and remains there with critical injuries.”
