Police have confirmed that multiple people being trapped following a motor vehicle accident on State Highway 30 in the Bay of Plenty.

A SunLive reader, who messaged us on Facebook, says it happened near Braemar Road in the Lake Rotoma area.

'Diversions are being put in place.”

A police spokesperson says police were alerted to the two vehicle crash at around 2:15pm.

"Initial reports state a number of people have a range of injuries."

The NZTA says the road is closed between Moody Road and Mangaone Road.

"Please delay your journey or use an alternative route."
