More than 3,500 runners and walkers are expected to participate in today's Rotorua Marathon.
Offering a full marathon, off-road half marathon, 10km and 5km race whether running or walking, it's an iconic scenic experience for all participating.
A lap around Lake Rotorua, running along boardwalks over the sulphur flats or walking through stunning forests, the Rotorua Marathon offers a simply stunning experience.
Registration was held at 6.30am at the Sports & Lifestyle Expo which is on today until 12noon.
Held at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre, the marathon for runners starts at 8am, and for walkers at 8.05am.
The Red Stag Timber Half Marathon for runners begins at 8.15am, followed by the Red Stag Timber Half Marathon for walkers at 8.20am.
The 10km race for runners and walkers starts at 8.35am, and the 5km race for runners and walkers at 9am.
On Friday 2,700 kids from 34 schools trialled 2.1km of the course as part of the 10th annual Rotorua Mini Marathon.
Prize giving for Saturday's marathon races will be held at 5pm for the 5km, 10km, Red Stag Timber Half Marathon and Marathon and includes spot prizes. A post-event function will be held at Millennium Rotorua from 6pm.
