Welcome Bay water shutdown to affect 850 homes

Water in Welcome Bay will be shutdown from 10pm to allow contractors to carry out emergency repairs.

A main water supply line in the Waitaha Road area has been damaged, says the Tauranga City Council.

"The shutdown will affect a large area of Welcome Bay, impacting an estimated 850 properties.

Tauranga City Council contractors will work overnight to get the water back up by 5am tomorrow morning.

"In the meantime, we ask that residents fill up a container for use during the night if they need it, or make alternative arrangements if they require continued water supply."

If you require additional drinking water, you can contact council on 07 577 7000 to arrange this.

If you experience any discoloured water tomorrow morning once the water is back on, run your outside tap for about 10 minutes to flush your line. If any problem persists, please contact us then on 07 577 7000.
