Burger Burger's expansion through New Zealand continues this month with the popular eatery opening a new restaurant in Tauranga's Mount Maunganui.

The 200 square metre restaurant is part of the city's new Bayfair expansion at Bayfair Shopping Centre and will open its doors for business from May 30.

The eatery will have capacity to seat 70 people indoors, with some limited outdoor seating also available. The interior is made of up two distinctive dining areas, interspersed with some higher bar seating that can be used for more informal dining or for meeting over a drink. A bar and ice-cream bar make up the heart of the dining room, while two sides of the room feature expansive windows, offering a glimpse into Bayfair's busy DINE precinct.

Burger Burger's new restaurant in the Bay comes five years after restaurateur Mimi Gilmour and executive chef Adrian Chilton first dreamed up an eatery that serves deliciously juicy burgers, charred broccoli, fries, sides and shakes all made from scratch using quality local produce.

That original Auckland restaurant has since branched out with more establishments, including a recent opening in Christchurch. Burger Burger, The Mount is the fifth restaurant in the group.

The Burger Burger menu is popular with all ages and appetites, features regular specials and offers beef, chicken, lamb and fish options as well as vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. There is an extensive kids menu and for the grande finale a sweet treat menu where ice cream is the hero of every dish.

Diners can wash down their burgers with a little something from the drinks menu, which includes old fashioned shakes, fresh housemade sodas, kombucha, organic juice, Sawmill tap beer and local beer from Mount Brewery, wine, including a special Burger Burger blend which is vegan, vegetarian and preservative free, or original, jazzy or light and bright cocktails.

Mimi says Burger Burger, The Mount has been largely influenced by the creative nature of the surrounding community.

'The Burger Burger team has so many family and friends in the Mount, as well as in Tauranga and Papamoa,” she says.

'They've all shared stories of their idyllic lifestyle filled with sunshine, surfing, fishing, fashion, art and good people – so we just couldn't stay away any longer! We wanted a slice of this heaven and its beautiful people.”

Burger Burger Mount will bring 25 new jobs to the region and will be open seven days a week (Sunday – Thursday from 11.30am-9pm and Friday - Saturday from 11.30am-10pm).

Large group bookings can be accommodated for 10 to 20 people, walk ins are welcome at all times. Otherwise Burger Burger fans can enjoy takeaways with online orders available via the Burger Burger app.
