Car on fire near Oropi roundabout

UPDATE 10.22AM: A car has rolled and then caught fire at the State Highway 29A and Oropi roundabout.

A police spokesperson says they were called to the scene at around 9.55am.

'It sounds like they may have moderate to serious injuries.

'There are no blockages, traffic can still get through the roundabout.”

A SunLive reporter at the scene says there is debris everywhere.

The NZTA are advising motorists to expect delays in the area.

'Due to a crash at the intersection with Oropi Road, expect delays and pass the scene with care.”

EARLIER:

A car is on its side and is smoking following a crash State Highway 29, near Oropi roundabout.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says his wife went past the crash and told him that a vehicle is on its side.

A reader messaged us on Facebook to says a "car crashed and burst into flames".

"Traffic building. Expect delays. Emergency services have been contacted and are on the way."

SunLive has contacted police and will update this story as soon as we have something more.

This is the third accident to happen in and around Tauranga this morning.
