Multiple injuries in double fatal BOP crash

Police have confirmed that no children were involved in a crash which has left two people dead and three others injured.

A vehicle and train collided at the intersection of State Highway 2 and Pongakawa School Road at 8.15am.

A police spokesperson says two people have died and three other people have been seriously injured and taken to hospital.

'No children were involved in the collision.

'The Serious Crash Unit will examine the scene and an investigation into the circumstances of the crash is underway.

'Diversions are in place at Pongakawa Station Road through to Old Coach Road and motorists are asked to avoid the area.”

The road was closed for several hours, but it is now open.

I was on my way back on Tuesday from Whakatane and those lights were working ,golly gosh imagine the Train driver when he saw this,gosh this is terrible,TRAGIC accident, do not have to be a rocket tech,. to see whats happened,my thoughts only on this, thanks for the story Sunlive, WHICH HAPPENS to be the BEST in NEWS in the BAY,Thankyou 10-4 out. phew.
