Urgent debate resumes in Parliament this morning on COVID-19 legislation granting authorities sweeping powers under level 2.
The COVID-19 Public Health Response Bill passed its first and second readings last night, without support from National.
National has criticised the unchecked power it endows and says it shows a lack of trust in New Zealanders, such as the 10-person limit for funerals.
The government says the law is necessary to enforce alert level 2 once the state of emergency is lifted.
