A man is facing a murder charge following the death of another man in the Bay of Plenty.

Emergency services were called to the property in Owhata, Rotorua, about 4.45pm on Wednesday.

When they arrived, they located a man's body.

A homicide investigation has been launched and police were speaking with another man from the address overnight.

A scene guard remained in place overnight.

This morning, a police spokesperson says a 59-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Rotorua.

"He is due to appear in Rotorua District Court today.

"Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.

"A scene examination is ongoing at the address today."
