State Highway 25 remains closed between Coromandel and Te Rerenga due to a large slip.

The highway is expected to remain closed all day today, Wednesday July 27.

"Response crews are hopeful of opening one lane by this evening," says an NZTA spokesperson.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area, delay travel or consider alternative route.

Coromandel's CFM is reporting that there has been a "huge effort by the roading crews to get most of our roads open after another dump of rain earlier this week".

Several roads are reduced to single lanes in places while slips are removed and repairs made.
"The Tapu Coroglen is closed and we will get an update during the day.The Kopu Hikuai is open but slips in a couple of places are still being worked on."
