Contractors are on their way to clear a slip on State Highway 29 on the Kaimai Range that is causing delays to traffic.

A SunLive reader reports that a slip is covering much of SH29, leaving only one lane clear.

"The traffic heading up the Kaimai Range has stopped while the downhill traffic is carefully going around it," says a SunLive reader.

The slip is located just below McLaren Falls Road on the Tauranga side of the Kaimai Range.

Trees are blocking the southbound lane which is closed.

Roading contractors are on their way to clear the scene.

Motorists are advised to expect significant delays, to delay travel or use an alternative route.
