Serious injuries reported in Bayfair crash

UPDATE 1.21PM: One person is reported to have sutained serious injuries following a crash at Bayfair Shopping Centre.

SunLive has received numerous reports of a car crashing into Westpac Bank at the shopping centre.

A witness at the scene says a woman was walking on the pavement when she was hit by a car before it continued into the bank.

A police spokesperson confirms that they received a report of a pedestrian being hit by a car at the shopping centre around lunchtime.

"The car also collided with a building.

"Initial information is that the pedestrian has serious injuries."

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

EARLIER:

A vehicle is reported to have crashed into a bank in Bayfair this afternoon.

SunLive has received two reports from members of the public saying someone has crashed into the Westpac Bank in Bayfair.

A witness at the scene says it appears to have been an accident.

There were two police cars on scene, an ambulance and a fire truck.

"The entire car park was shut on that side [of Bayfair]. I saw the fireman cutting a side of the car but couldn't see anyone inside the car."
