The three day outlook is a northerly rising early Tuesday to 30 knots but 50 knots in the south with high sea. It then eases late Tuesday to northwest 25 knots, but 35 knots in south, then rising late Wednesday to northwest 35 knots throughout. Easing early Thursday variable 10 knots, then becoming northeast 30 knots on Thursday evening.
In the three weeks since departing Tauranga on November 27, Tim has paddled nearly 800km in his attempt to be the first person to kayak round New Zealand on a single voyage.
So far he's spent the odd day on the beach here and there while waiting for bad weather to pass by.
