Police were led on a bull chase around The Lakes subdivision this morning in an attempt to catch the stray animal.
A runaway bull started a police chase through the suburbs. Photos: supplied.
A SunLive reader was involved in the chase which he says started at Birch Ave and ended up in The Lakes.
He says police ended up shooting the bull, as the ‘angry wee chap' was charging at policemen and civilians.
'We tried to round him up through the toll gates across the crossing through to the second roundabout before heading up to Pyes Pa Cemetery,” he told SunLive.
'We had to round him up as he was heading into The Lakes residential area away from the playground. There was a couple of kids up the top of the hills, where he rested again, while police were there with a big gun.
'Then he full on charged at us all. They followed him up towards Pyes Pa Cemetery in the bush, where there were two officers with guns who shot the bull before he got back on the road.”
SunLive's calls to Tauranga Police have been unanswered.

Why would you call a policeman to catch a bull. They can't even catch a burglar. Bloody mad with guns.
No Bull.

This ended in a no bull approach from Police. Don't call a vet or SPCA thats no fun when we can chase it in our cars and shoot it . Perhaps its tag was mistaken for a tazer ?. Could have been charged with resisting arrest and threatening behaviour ?.
Not the first time.......

I came arcoss a cow running along route p towards the toll gates ladt year at about 3 in the morning. Did not see what they charged it thru the toll gate though. Had another one just up past the cemetry too. My mate in the truck in front just managed to swerve around it in the dark and warn me on the RT before i nearly clobbered it with my truck. Happens too much. Someone will end up with one thru their windscreen one day!!!
Poor bull....

It wouldn't have taken long to tire him out.... surely he could have been cornered somewhere safe until a vet or local farmer could have come and got him....what a waste... hopefully he was put down quickly and suffered as little as possible. For future reference, there is a much easier way to catch a bull.... even these wild aggressive ones who definitely don't want to leave. This is a youtube called 'flying cows' from Hawaii: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lly8BBGidJQ
