SH2 crash victims: stable

The two people injured in Wednesday morning's crash on State Highway 2 near Te Puke are in stable but serious conditions in Tauranga Hospital's intensive care unit.

They are both recovering from surgery conducted on Wednesday.

Te Puke Senior Sergeant Deirdre Lack suffered multiple limb fractures and internal injuries in the 5am crash and spent most of Wednesday in the operating theatre.

The 19 year old Te Puke man, who was the driver of the other vehicle involved in the head-on smash, had surgery conducted on multiple limb fractures and internal injuries.

The grandmother of the 19 year old has confirmed he is Daniel Longney. She says he is a relief milk worker and he was travelling towards Te Puke at the time of the incident.
