Tauranga golfer tees-off in Fiji

Tauranga golfer Mark Brown is one of a number of New Zealand stars taking on an exciting field at the Fiji International, hosted by the picturesque Natadola Bay Championship Golf Club today.

Mark has been in great from this year, defending his Tauranga Open title last month, and should be a strong contender at the event headlined by Fijian favourite Vijay Singh as well as world number 16 Matt Kuchar.

Ryan Fox has been drawn to play with Kuchar, which is no doubt one of the feature groups of the tournament. Fox has been noticed by many following his recent success in Europe, and will go head-to-head over the first two days with one of the world's most consistent golfers.

'I'm obviously really looking forward to playing with Matt Kuchar and Matt Goggin,” says Ryan.

'It will be great to see how my game stacks up against someone who has consistently been in the top 20 for a long period of time. Hopefully I can learn a bit from watching both of them play.”

Immediately following the event, Ryan will compete in the last two events on the Challenge Tour.

First up is the the Foshan Open in China, before the NBO Golf Classic Grand Final in Oman as Fox looks to secure his European Tour card

Josh Geary is also making an appearance this week, and returns from the China Tour after victory at the Yulongwan Yunnan Open.

After the Fiji International, a handful of Kiwi's will come back home to the Garden City and compete in the John Jones Steel Harewood Open, which houses an impressive field including Nick Gillespie, Kieran Muir, Brad Shilton and Martin Pettigrew.

This will be played from October 22-25 in Christchurch.
