TelstraClear is reporting its internet and telephone network in Tauranga is experiencing problems, with many of its customers in the city unable to use these services.
There is no explanation for this outage other than describing it as a ‘possible network fault'.
The TelstraClear website reports teams are ‘working to identify and resolve the issue as soon as possible'.

Considering that we have been a Telstra Clear customer for a number of years now, this is the first outage that we have experienced. So I can not understand the comment by Capt_Kaveman 'as this happens quite a bit'.

you must have a short memory. Only 7 or 8 months ago their email was down for almost three days and these outages actually happen more often than they should in this modern era. I doubt we will get any recompense from them but I will certainly be contacting them - although their contact centre must be the most painful in NZ to get hold of.

We've been with TeltraClear for many years and it's the first time we've had an outage like this (loss of internet and phone problem). I phoned on the 0508 number (from my cellphone as the home phone couldn't call any numbers starting with zero due to the fault) and were told by the recorded message of the outage. I elected to hang on to speak to a rep and managed to get through to someone, who had a NZ accent, who was very pleasant. Wait time was less than 10 minutes. Can't comment on TCL past email issues as we use a Gmail address for portability so if TCL servers pack up it doesn't affect us. Ultimately the outage wasn't the end of the world. Facebook survived ok without our family haha.

you pay for a 24hr service if this is not met then a refund of downtime is due
