Katikati Rotary Club members will be leading visitors 'Up the Garden Path” again this month, when they hold the popular garden ramble fund raiser.
Some 13 local gardens open to the public on November 14 and 15 for the biennial event, with all the proceeds going to community and youth projects in the district.

Well established as well as new and developing gardens, which range in size from urban sections to extensive rural gardens, provide a diversity of experiences for visitors and are spread from Te Puna to Athenree.
Those opening their gardens are:
- Lorna and Chris Yandle, 306 Pahoia Rd – a large, harbour-side garden with a pond, waterfall and garden 'rooms”.
- Christina and Ramon Humphreys, 221 Work Rd – a country cottage terraced garden.
- Helene and Graeme Bryant-Bates, 54 A Chard Rd – called 'Mon Desir”, a young developing garden featuring unusual ideas.
- Sue and Bill Sisley 266 Hot Springs Rd – well established garden with roses, perennial, trees and a stream.
- Ken and Julia Blackler, 4 Uretara Drive – a two-year-old urban garden with a sunny courtyard and garden art.
- Heather Hayward, 27 Fairview Rd – a 10-year-old urban garden with lush foliage and colourful perennials.
- Mary Anne and Rod Calver, 164 Lindermann Rd – a country garden with many 'rooms”, mature trees, roses and views.
- Diane and Steve Hart, 34 Willoughby Rd – semi-formal established garden overlooking Tahawai Stream. The 'Little Rover Café” will be open and picnickers are welcome.
- Penny Kilmartin, 412 State Highway North – this garden features a wetland and old time roses from the collection of the late Marie Philos.
- Helen and Matthew Heller, 114 Ongare Point Rd – garden of cottage plants and boxed hedging adjacent to an avocado orchard.
- Alan Goodyear, 320 Ongare Point Rd – harbourside setting for ramble's refreshment stop, all day tea-coffee and homemade cakes and sandwiches.
- Kerry and Sophia Ward, 70 Waiau Rd, Athenree – edible garden with mature fruit trees, edible hedges and wholesale plant growing nursery.
- Moira and John Galloway, 3 Emerton Rd, Athenree – a large, 25-year-old garden overlooking Waihi Beach featuring mosaics and foliage for colour and texture.
Up the Garden Path takes place, whatever the weather, on November 14 and 15 from 9am to 5pm daily.
Tickets, available from the Katikati Information Centre or any of the gardens on the day, cost $20 per person for two days, with discounts for parties of eight or more.
