The shows are part of a 25-date national tour in celebration of the band's new album Fools and Kings which is set for release this month.

Led by guitarist and vocalist Frank Burkit, the band features Cameron Dusty Burnell on mandolin, Krissy Jackson on fiddle, Kara Filbey on percussion/vocals, and James Geluk on double bass.

The Scottish born singer/songwriter was quick to form The Frank Burkitt Band after moving to New Zealand in 2014.

Following their debut performance at the Wellington Bluegrass Society, the band have impressed audiences across the country with their tightly arranged songs filled with delicious harmony.

'The Frank Burkitt Band is not confined to one genre but it does have a very unique sound and feel at its core,” explains tour promoter Cheree Ridder.

'It is good old fashioned original song-writing backed up by a band that understands perfectly how to add infectious rhythm and groove, varied and skilled solo breaks and endorphin-exploding harmonies.”

Scottish born, Frank Burkitt has been performing as a singer-songwriter and guitarist for over 10 years and has previously toured New Zealand, Australia, the US and the UK.

He learned his craft in the late night pub sessions of his native Edinburgh and will forever be indebted to the folk scene that shaped him as a musician. Heavily influenced by Scottish folk in his younger days, his music now draws influence from contemporary bluegrass and Americana.

If you're after a show jam packed with intelligent and thought provoking lyrics, served up alongside music that is as emotive as it is foot-tapping then make sure you get along to these upcoming shows.
