UPDATED: Power is back on in the Bayfair area following a crash early this morning.

Homes in Arataki and Omanu were without power from around 4am after a vehicle hit a power pole.

Powerco contractos have been working to restore power.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Power is out in parts of Omanu and Arataki this morning after a car hit a power pole.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there was a crash around 4am which caused the power to go out.

Power went off around 4am and Powerco are working to have it back on around 9am.

Another caller to the news hotline says there was another just before 7am when a vehicle struck the power box on Harrow Place.

'There doesn't appear to be any injuries but the crash has caused the power to go out.”

Police have been called to the scene and are investigating the crash.
