Movie picks for summer

If the Force doesn't move you – then maybe a right hook from Sylvester Stallone's latest Rocky spin-off or for the ladies how about a bit of Brad Pitt in The Big Short?

If you are a movie lover, there is plenty of movies to whet the appetite this Christmas holiday. Now all the gossip has been about Star Wars: The Force Awakens but believe it or not. Some people aren't into sci-fi so here are five movies worth checking out this summer.

Creed, is the latest Rocky spin-off that has Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) mentoring Apollo Creed's son, Adonis (Michael B Jordan). If you are into boxing then this maybe the movie for you. The boxing sequences are exhilarating. According to Sylvester, Michael actually got knocked out while filming.

If you are after a bit of real life drama then check out Spotlight. It's based on the real-life drama of the Boston Globe investigating allegations against John Geoghan, an unfrocked priest accused of molesting more than 80 boys. It stars Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) as a reporter who interview victims and tries to provide proof of a cover-up of sexual abuse within the Roman Catholic Church.

Wanting something a bit lighter to watch? Then check out Sisters. It's a comedy starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as sisters who throw a party before their parents sell their family home. If you are a Saturday Night Live fan then this is the movie for you with both Fey and Peohler onscreen with co-stars Maya Rudolph and Bobby Moynihan. John Cena also makes a hilarious appearance.

For the romantics out there check out Brooklyn. Starring Saoirse Ronan it's a story of an Irish immigrant living in Brooklyn and balancing new love, work and homesickness. Saoirse's character falls for a tough Italian plumber (Emory Cohen) but faces temptation from another man (Domhnall Gleeson) when she returns to her homeland for a visit.

Of course you've got to have a little bit of eye-candy so along comes Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling and Steve Carell star in the thriller The Big Short in the movie adaption of Michael Lewis book ‘The Big Short' based on Michael Burry, an idiosyncratic doctor who predicted the crash of the housing market.

This article clearly isn't about Starwars but the author thought he would get some extra views by throwing in something about starwars. He even had the audacity to use an image from Starwars. Bad Journalism.
