New Art, Fresh Start

A new exhibition with a very fitting title is the first to go up on display at Creative Tauranga's new premises in the Tauranga City Council arcade.

Part one of a series, the ‘New Art, Fresh Start' exhibitions features works by 10 Bay of Plenty artists and will be on display at the creative trust's new home on Willow Street until February 9.

The exhibition features local artists are Greg Taylor, Megan Park, Daniel Couper, Jo Pedersen, Juanita-Louisa Karora, Alicia Beech, Moyra Papworth, Ata Ellery, Rachel Schultz and Anett Pilz

Gallery curator Millie Newitt says ‘New Art, Fresh Start' celebrates new local talent and the artists who are currently on display have exhibited at Creative Tauranga in the past.

'This is a collaborative exhibition and most of the artists are emerging to the New Zealand art scene,” says Mille.

'The artwork ranges from realistic and abstract landscape, to sculpture and ceramics, to portraiture and abstract wax works.”

Creative Tauranga moved into their new premises in the council arcade during November of last year.

Millie says the trust is thrilled with it new space and is inviting the public to come down to check out this latest exhibition as well as Creative Tauranga's new digs.

Part two of ‘New Art, Fresh Start' will be exhibitedin February and will feature a new group of artists and their works.
