Police hunt armed robbery suspect

Police are searching for a man who made off with a sum of money from an armed robbery of a Tauranga pub.

Officers swarmed McSwiggans Irish Pub on Cambridge Road around 12.30pm yesterday after reports of an armed man robbing the place.

'Police are actively looking for a solidly built male wearing dark clothing seen running from the Cambridge Heights Shopping Centre,” says Detective Sergeant Paul Barron.

'An amount of money was stolen, police will not elaborate on the amount.”

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Tauranga Police on 07 577 4300.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously via the Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 line.

Not much to go on, I suspect the victims were so terrified that a good description was not on their minds. They should bring back hanging for people like this.
