Interactive games with a sobering safety message that encourages people to 'Plan B4 U Party' has proven to be a huge hit with the public.
Part of the Safe Summer Coromandel Campaign initiative, the games were run at several events this summer and aimed to teach people about drinking responsibly, looking after mates, and facing up to the consequences of driving drunk.

The interactive games included throwing a wet sponge at your mate, the Plan B4 U Party game and fatal vision beer goggles.
East Waikato road safety coordinator Ingrid Le Fevre road safety co-ordinators from the Waikato and Tauranga teamed up with police and community organisations to run the games.
'The delivery was purely interactive hands-on activities. The giant Plan B4 U Party game was very popular and so were the fatal vision beer goggles,” says Ingrid.
The fatal vision goggles give the effect of drinking - without the hangover.
Players are asked to complete everyday tasks like pouring a glass of water, carrying a tray and throwing a ball.
Spilt water, wonky tray and the ball being thrown to the side are all results of feeling under the influence, while a ‘high five' at the end of the course is often missed as people generally were looking in the wrong direction.

Another big hit were the mobile Plan B4 U Party photo frames, with numerous people lining up for photos with police.
Officers weren't the only popular attraction, the police car and road spikes also got a lot of attention and many took the opportunity to sit in the car and try on a police vest.
Police will once again be hanging out with the crowds at two more events this summer – The Beach Hop Waihi Warm Up Party on March 30 and the Matarangi Wine & Food Festival on April 9.
The Safe Summer Coromandel Campaign is a police-led initiative which works in partnership with 17 community agencies to prevent death and serious harm over summer in the Coromandel.
If you are interested in educating people about drink driving in a fun way the Fatal Vision Goggles are available at no charge. For more information email: ingrid.lefevre@tcdc.govt.nz
