The Warehouse Fraser Cove has donate more than $1350 raised through the sale of their plastic bags to Bay of Plenty Sexual Assault Support Services.
BOP SASS received the money from the Fraser Cove Warehouse during their plastic bag donation period of August 2015 to January 2016.
The Warehouse in Fraser Cove will be donating plastic bag proceeds to the Bay of Plenty Sexual Assault Support Services.
The Warehouse Fraser Cove store manager Duncan Gardner says he is 'enormously proud” of the fundraising campaign, as it gives the customer two choices: whether to purchase a plastic bag and where the money from the plastic bags should go.
These funds raised for the BOP SASS went to installing a ducted heat pump system to their bach.
Trustee and Board Member of BOP SASS Jonnie Mead says this is an important addition to their services.
'This will ease the situation for clients and staff alike.”
BOP SASS CEO Kylie Mckee says the heat pump will help make clients feel more comfortable when receiving such sensitive counselling.
'It is a little thing but so important during our hot summers and even cold winters as this ducted system will cover both temperature extremes.”
Kylie says running the support services can be costly, especially for sexual assault victims.
'We are constantly involved in fund raising activities to help ends meet.
'Straight away, Duncan was able see just how much help we needed and gave us the opportunity to be one of the organisations that they would support through their plastic bag campaign. We are very grateful” says Kylie.
Three organisations or charities are picked by The Warehouse Fraser Cove every six months, and through their token voting system customers can decide which local charity or organisation they would like The Warehouse Fraser Cove to support.
Duncan says most customers don't usually want a plastic bag, so The Warehouse doesn't 'just hand these bags out indiscriminately”.
'We give our customers the choice to pay a nominal fee for a plastic bag and the money from the plastic bag sales goes to 3 charities every 6 months via our token boxes or small product donations.”
Other charities donated to through the Warehouse Fraser Cove donations during August 2015 to January 2016 were Heart Kids BOP and Maungatapu Free Kindergarten.
