TGC volleyball best in NZ

Tauranga Girls' College is returning from the National Secondary Schools Volleyball Championships triumphant for the second year running after claiming victory over rivals Otumoetai College.

The Tauranga Girls' College A team won the division one final, and was one of four teams from the college to take part.

One of the coaches, Di Govind, says the final game against nemesis Otumoetai College was action packed.

Tauranga Girls' College was down two sets and came from behind to win the last three sets, taking out the title.

Three students from the team, Stephanie Pearce, Toni Bullock and captain Andrea Tauai were also named in the tournament team. Andrea was also named most valuable player at the tournament.

The championship was held in Palmerston North from March 27 to April 1 and was contested by 64 girls' teams.
