Season ends: top players awarded

With the cricket season having wound down after six months of intensive competition in both representative and Baywide club cricket, the final two player of the months awards are declared.

In February, Bay of Plenty representative batsman Peter Drysdale was in fine form for the Bay side in their two Fergus Hickey Rosebowl matches.

Peter Drysdale is the Bay of Plenty Cricket player of the month for February.

Against Waikato Valley in Cambridge, Peter top scored with an unbeaten 83 runs in his side's winning total of 160/2.

Two weeks later, the Bay of Plenty opening batsman again top scored with a gritty 73 as his side failed by just three runs to chase down the Poverty Bay first innings total.

He finished the Bay of Plenty representative season with his team's top batting total of 350 with a top score of 83 not out in the Waikato Valley encounter.

Rotorua Central premier team bowler Jason Trembath was the star turn of the March BOP Cup matches.

In a must win game for Rotorua Central against Te Puke in a BOP Cup match Jason wrecked the Te Puke attempt for victory taking six wickets for just 16 runs.

The following week, Jason fronted again, returning 3/31 against Baywide heavyweights Otumoetai Cadets.

The Central frontline bowler finished the two Baywide championships taking the most wickets (34) in the Williams and BOP Cup competitions.

In the Attrill Cup victory against Eastern Bay of Plenty that returned the sub-association trophy to Rotorua – the Rotorua representative showed his all round skills, taking three wickets then top scoring with 54 runs with the bat.

February Player of the Month: Peter Drysdale (BOP Representative Team)

March Player of the Month: Jason Trembath (Eastern Pirates)
