Papamoa wins Gordon Spratt thriller

The Seeka KI Western BOP clash at Gordon Spratt Reserve between Papamoa and Eastern Districts was an absolute thriller that went down to the dying seconds of the match.

The home side, which was trailing ED with the clock ticking down crashed over the try line to grab a 33-27 victory.


Arataki laid down the challenge to the other Western BOP teams with Baywide aspirations when they posted a significant scoreline against Rangiuru at Jamieson Oval. After leading 17-8 at the halfway break in play, the Grenada Park based side put the pedal to the floor in the second spell to take out the encounter 53-15.

The Katikati side, which has just come together this season, showed that they are a competitive unit grabbing a bonus point, from former Western BOP champions Tauranga Sports.

The visitors to Moore Park had to battle hard to overcome a spirited Katikati challenge, before emerging with a 34-26 victory.

Long time Western BOP second echelon competition heavyweight Mount Maunganui, won a good spirited contest with Greerton Marist 47-17, at Greerton Park.

Te Puke Sports had a good tussle with Judea in the curtain raiser at Murray Salt Stadium, before taking out the match 22-17.
