The death of a second person following a Wairarapa crash has pushed the long weekend's road toll to seven.
Shortly before midday on Sunday State Highway 2 near Mt Bruce was the scene of a head-on collision.

The mortally-wounded male driver had been trapped in the wreck, but was freed by emergency services and died soon afterwards despite efforts to resuscitate him.
Four others were badly injured, including one airlifted to Wellington Hospital in a critical condition.
Police confirmed on Monday morning he had since died, pushing the Queen's Birthday road toll to seven.
The Queen's Birthday holiday period started at 4pm on Friday and would end at 6am on Tuesday.
On Friday evening, a Kaikoura man, aged 64, died in a four-car crash on SH1 between Waikouaiti and Waitati, north of Dunedin.
One person died and two others suffered serious and moderate injuries in a crash on SH3 at Tanehopuwai, between Te Kuiti and Piopio, in Waikato between 5am and 5.30am on Saturday.
On Saturday afternoon, a motorcyclist died after colliding with a parked car about 4pm on Castlebane Drive at Flat Bush in south Auckland.
Another person died and four others were injured in a crash that involved a truck and two other vehicles on SH1 at Greta Valley, north of Christchurch, on Saturday about 6pm.
A man died after his car crashed into a tree on Dun Road in Kaingaroa Forest, southwest of Rotorua about 3.15pm.
In 2013, the road toll was zero during Queen's Birthday Weekend, the first time there were no fatalities on the country's roads for the holiday weekend period since records began.
