Smoke billowing from a property in Mount Maunganui sparked a fire callout yesterday evening.
Northern Fire Communications shift manager Jaron Phillips says three fire crews were called to the scene on Ocean Beach Road about 6.45pm.
Three fire crews were called to an external power box fire yesterday. File photo.
'It was smoke showing from a power outlet. It was one external power box on fire on the side of a house.
'It was extinguished with a fire extinguisher.”
Firefighters extinguished the fire just after 7pm and left the scene at 8.15pm, once they were happy there was no further danger.

Seriously captn look at the facts before pointing fingers, this was a meter box on the side of the house, meaning it's the home owners responsibility, not the power company.
