Drizzling rain didn't dampen the enthusiasm of movie goers at last night's screening of Goodbye Pork Pie.
More than 150 cars turned up for the forth night of screenings at Baypark during the Queens Birthday weekend drive in movie festival.
Ian Mune spoke with SunLive before last nights movie Goodbye Pork Pie. see video below.
With occasional help from windscreen wipers and the car stereo system, movie buffs were treated to the classic 1981 movie.
Roller skate waitress with plastic rain covers battled the conditions to deliver vital supplies, hot chips and drinks, to grateful patrons.
Celebrity guest at the evenings event was former Tauranga student Ian Mune, who along with Geoff Murphy wrote the script for Goodbye Pork Pie.

I am half way through reading Ian's autobiography, what a cool story. Good to see him in town endorsing this great initiative. Thanks also to SunLive for letting us know about the event.

Ian's mum, Molly, was a school teacher, english at Tauranga Boy's in the 60's and my revered Sunday school teacher (yes, I hear the comments!) at St. Enochs Presbyterian Church in 16th Avenue.

Baypark would like to thank Ian who took his own time to appear at Baypark for free. It was great to have him there to be a part of the day and screening of the 30th anniversary of Goodbye Pork Pie

Rortologist (how true), get the facts before you open your Whingologist mouth. Have been 3 nights now, by far the best thing we have done as a family in a long long time. We will support this 100%. Bring them back ................. So much fun.

DO you mean you have only been silly enough to go 3 nights because so far there have been 5 nights how come you missed 2.It seems that you think the best use 'the powers that be' can find for the nearly completed $40m Events Centre is to show outdated movies on the white exterior walls -they could do that for the paltry numbers involved at most Tauranga carparks so why don't they ? Have them 7 nights a week.
Great event

Spent $45 million on a fancy doo daa building in the middle of a car park so as can use a wall for movies, I am sure that there would be cheaper ways to do this and if it was even possible to make money out of it then they would have survived the last 40 years and still be with us. This just another cost to TCVL and ratepayers, that is all there is to it!
What a bunch of whingers

It never ceases to amaze me the number of negative people there are in our community, in fact you only have to read the letters to the editor in most papers to see the old regulars, the glass half empty brigade. You guys will never see the glass is not half empty but half full if you never open your eyes. I haven't been to the movies as yet but if it is being enjoyed by lots of people that's great. No point in you losers going along, it's not for the dead between the ears brigade. STOP WHINGING AND GET A LIFE. Remember the old adage it's better to be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt. If you feel that strongly about it stand for council(YEAH RIGHT) or SHUT UP
