Exploding Samsungs recalled

If you've gone out and bought yourself a new Samsung Galaxy Note7, keep it away from you.

Not too far away, because you're going to want to return it to the store you purchased it from, and you'll probably want to do it now.

Samsung has issued a statement to all new Samsung Galaxy Note7 owners to return their Note7 or phone their 24/7 hotline to get a replacement after reports that the phones are exploding and catching fire.

Any customers who have purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note7 with a model number beginning with ‘SM-N930' have been urged to return it to the store or call 0800 726 786.

The new Samsung smartphone was released only two weeks ago and already has reports of the phone catching fire or exploding.

Ariel Gonzalez recorded a YouTube clip of his Samsung Galaxy Note7 after it caught alight, saying he had plugged it in to charge – using the official Samsung charging cable – before it caught fire. 'It started right after I took it off the charger,” he commented on his YouTube clip.

'I was not hurt but my carpet has a good size whole [sic] now.”

Concerns were raised from 35 customers and after a thorough investigation by the company, Samsung found an issue with the battery cell.

Though no reports of exploding Galaxy Note7's have been reported in New Zealand, Samsung Electronics New Zealand has issued a 'voluntary replacement of the phones sold in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands through various retailers and our online store”.


The new Samsung Galaxy Note7 models reportedly affected.

Reports came in of a Galaxy Note7 exploding in a Perth hotel room form a man visiting Australia on business.

He posted on the online forum Reddit that the damage from the exploding phone caused more than $1800 of damages to the hotel room and that Samsung has agreed to cover the costs.
