Red socks will line Red Square in Tauranga as the Westpac bank attempts to break the Guinness World Record for ‘the most socks pegged on a continuous line'.
Bank manager Lindsay Horne says they are attempting to break the record in conjunction with a celebration of Red Sock Day on Wednesday, June 22.

'Once 250 socks have been pegged, staff will take a photo of it as proof, take them down and start all over again,” says Lindsay.
The bank has all the necessary socks and pegs for the task, but would like some help from the public in doing the pegging.
'We estimate it will take 22,500 pairs of socks to fill the line and break the record.
'We are setting up a clothesline in Red Square and will be attempting to break the record between 7.45am and 9am.”
Lindsay says the tie-in with Red Sock Day is appropriate.
'Sir Peter Blake liked to wear his red socks for good luck and during the America's Cup Challenge of 1995 and New Zealanders supported the boat by putting on their own red socks.
'The Sir Peter Blake Trust brought back the red socks in 2010 and over 80,000 Kiwis celebrated Red Socks day.”
