Opotiki: no chance

Ngongotaha Premiers outplayed a determined Opotiki Sports team in round four of the Baywide premier competition with a 75-24 result.

Opotiki never gave up and pushed its opposition hard on attack and defence. Ngongotaha Premiers shooters Hailey Ratima and Pani Taipeti combined well, playing a mixture of a holding and running game.

The midcourt combination of Tana Raharuhi, Nadine Stone and Chelsea Retemeyer were a formidable combination feeding the shooters from all over the court.

They were staunch on defence breaking the flow of Opotiki's through court play. At the defence end, Gaby Adams and Lax Iasona dominated its shooters leaving Opotiki's midcourt with few options to feed their shooters.
The game was a great team effort all round with Nadine Stone working tirelessly in the centre position.

She controlled the midcourt, moved the ball through court well and was relentless in defence, grabbing some good intercepts and putting pressure on her opposite to force errors.

Marist Shakers managed to notch up another win in a game that saw them take the lead early in the first quarter and retain it throughout the rest of the game. With some zealous defence tactics from Poroporo Pahou in the goal circle, Marist shooters Vanessa Bates and Jessica Hathaway were forced to work hard.

In the second quarter, Marist Shakers increased the pace with accurate passing from defence Katie Snyman and Jess Meade down to midcourters Jade Hemana, Alison Morgan and Natalie Allan.

Overall, a tidy game by Marist Shakers with good feeding into the shooters and brilliant defensive and attack work. The final score was 46-37.
