Boobs on Bikes organiser Steve Crow is asking Tauranga people to put their 'body where their mouth is” and participate in the parade.
Steve says the annual parade of bare-chested women is coming to Tauranga in response to requests from the public, but if people don't indicate they will participate, then it is not going to happen.

'The reason we are coming there is we were asked to come there,” says Steve.
'We have been asked repeatedly by emails over the years, so we are like, ‘okay let's include Tauranga in the mix,' so now I've gone back to the people who have asked and said, ‘Well okay, now you need to put your body where your mouth is and you need to participate'.”
Steve says if Tauranga people do not register their interest, then the event is unlikely to happen on Thursday, August 4.
'It's a 4-5 hour drive for us and unless it's going to work we don't need to do that.
'We are only bringing 20 people with us because we are doing it in Auckland on the Wednesday and to ask the Auckland people take an extra day of work is a big ask.
'So we are only really bringing our international stars and a few hardcore people that just want to do the whole ride.
'Quite probably, if we got to the Tuesday (August 2) and we only had one or two people from Tauranga I would say ‘Do we really want to do this, or shall we just go to Hamilton?'”
As well as providing Steve with the confidence to hold the event, registering with him at www.eroticaexpo.co.nz/boobs_on_bikes ensures a smoothly run event.
'They need to register just so that we have enough cars and bikes and things for them to be transported on because in the past we have been caught with too many girls and not enough cars or vice versa.”
With confirmation of the parade happening, however, Steve says walk-ups on the day are okay, with few rules about what-is and what-is-not allowed from participants.
'We try and be non restrictive – it kind of defeats the purpose if we become our own censor, or our own moderator if you like, so we try not to do that.
'So if they turn up with their own bike and their own partner on the back or a convertible car, or anything really, as long as it's road legal, they have licences and are over 18, we are not going to carry them away.”
Steve says full nudity from participants is accepted, 'as long as they stay seated, because then you can't see their genitals”.
A large walk-up crowd on the day would not cause a problem for Steve, who says while it may cause a headache for police, it does not anticipate it causing problems for them.
'Police have always been fantastic – everywhere we've gone we've never had a problem with the police.
'They are there to maintain public safety and they do a damn good job of it.”
The Tauranga parade is planned for Thursday, August 4 and is the day after the Auckland parade and the day before the 13th annual Erotica Lifestyles Expo is held at the ASB Showgrounds in Greenlane.
The Tauranga parade is one of seven parades planned as part of the ‘Boobs on Bikes Tiki Tour' scheduled for Thursday, August 4. Parades are planned for Paeroa, Waihi, Katikati, Tauranga, Matamata, Cambridge and Hamilton on this day. Pictured is the planned route through Tauranga.

Ask the fire brigade to attend and turn their hoses on the lot of them. That would really blow them away - for good. Who on earth asked them to come here in the first place ? Probably the strip club owners. I personally wouldn't cross the raod to see them, unless the firebrigade was blowing them off their bikes. How low can you go Tauranga ? Sorry but not a good look for our lovely city.

As I said about the previous story, this is all just a publicity stunt and unless enough people fall for the trap and get stirred up by it paradoxically causing others to want to go, I think it won't happen. The righteous indignation of some of those who oppose it is a bit over the top. I don't support it and won't be going. But the real harm done to society is by those who act out their fantasies on people in a secret abusive way, not in public. Time and again some perfect and moral people rage against something like this, whilst some are actually doing worse privately. I asked a friend, what would Jesus do, and the friend answered turn the other cheek. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Answers please. So does this mean anyone can organise a parade through the streets of Tga for any reason, causing disruption to many people & their businesses for their own personal gain ie: profit. It is not even pretending to be a charity. How can this be legal?? Why can't the police/council just say NO you cannot do this. Is this person above the law?

TCC 'Street Use Bylaws' doesn't allow as of right activities such as that proposed by Mr Crow. To date Mr Crow has NOT made an application with TCC. Permission cannot unreasonably be denied but offensive is one justification. Elected members will provide the necessary direction in the context of a Council Meeting, to staff, should an application be received. I belief it unlikely that there is enough time for Council to process any aspplication that may be received in regard this event for August 4. It is unfortunate that Mr Crow has chosen to mislead the community through the media that he is able to stage the 'porn parade'.

Well I guess the comments show just how stupid and ignorant some people really are. Every day we are exposed to clevage . . .! Some BIG and some small but none the less the breasts are on display for all to admire . . . Just look around you'll see them (but don't look too hard or you'll get labeled as a pervert) Seems to me they want to display them but also want to have a go at you for admiring them . . . Please look up the meaning of porn . . . You'll see its nothing like just showing what ya got. So really with so much cleavage already on public display daily, might we just change the name to riders nipples? We all have bodies and we should all be proud of what we have . . .

this is not really my thing, and im not too keen to see it here in Tga, BUT....it cant be much worse than what some of the teenage girls parade around in everyday...ever been on the strand after dark??? So i wonder how many of these people commenting have a teenager on parade....but thats okay aye....

Im going to be keeping a look out for the todgers on tandems. Cocks on trailers would have been a better title. If boobs on bikes comes to tauranga, Im going to run a cocks in socks parade I think it will be great publicity for my new website
