Too many horses, not enough races, means the final Christmas at the Races meeting at Tauranga Racecourse this Wednesday has been extended.
Initially just eight races were programmed, but a big field of nominations means 10 races will now be run, says Racing Tauranga's Andrew Love.
The first race gets underway at 1.18pm and the final race is scheduled for 6.50pm.
Andrew says this is the third Christmas at the Races meeting and the club has decided to waive the $10 gate charge after 3.30pm.
'By waiving the charge after race four, anyone will be able to come along and see 6 races, with no charge, and enjoy an evening picnic and a drink. BYO limits apply.”
Local Trainer Brian McKeagg, who is enjoying a great season to date, has an entry in the first, Tudee and one in the last Rebel Rebel.
'McKeagg has so far this season saddled up five winners, two seconds and five thirds and is inside the top 50 trainers in the country,” says Andrew.
'Other local trainers include Jim Pender with Duke Street in Race 4, Dude with Attitude in Race 9 and My Alayne in Race 10, whilst Wayne Carter has Motuman in the first.”
