Police are praising the well-behaved crowd of people who made their way to Whitianga for a concerts held over the weekend.
In the latest Whitianga Police Report senior sergeant Esau Uiese says the Whitianga Summer went without trouble and police were very happy with the behaviours of those people who attended.
'The message from police is loud and clear – always plan before you party as this will minimise harm and risk to the community.”
ARRESTS:
Whitianga Police made one arrest last week.
January 29 – 1 x 18-year-old Hamilton male for assault with a weapon.
DOMESTIC INCIDENTS:
Whitianga Police attended one domestic incident last week.
On January 29 police attended a domestic incident at a South Highway address in Whitianga where a separated couple were having a verbal argument.
OTHER INCIDENTS:
On January 23 a burglary was reported from an address at Riverview Road, Cooks Beach, where clothes were taken from, while on January 25 a burglary was reported from an address at Wharekaho Road where a kayak was stolen.
Also on January 25 a tourist reported theft of a cell phone, bankcards and cash from Hot Water Beach. That night at about 8:50pm police stopped a vehicle and after further enquiries recovered the stolen bankcards.
Then on January 28 two petrol drive offs were reported by Z Service station involving a vehicle from an address in Kuaotunu and Pukekohe Auckland.
TRAFFIC:
Whitianga Police apprehended one drunk driver last week.
January 29 – 1 x 19-year-old local male (a disqualified driver) who recorded a reading of 698/250.
