Opposition to Boobs on Bikes in Tauranga is expected to get vocal at a public meeting at the Tauranga City Council chambers tonight.

Driven by Councillors Murray Guy and Bill Grainger, the meeting is being called in regard to Steve Crow's plan to drive vehicles with bare breasted women on board through town this Thursday.

The meeting is tonight, from 5.30pm for a discussion start at 6pm.

Discussion will include clarity on the ‘Street Use Bylaw' and options available to council staff when assessing whether or not to approve a parade application.

Murray says the main agenda will be to listen to those present, to note and record comments contributed, to determine an agreed way forward – including options to actively encourage the parade organiser to rethink his determination to use Tauranga city streets for the promotion of the porn Erotica Lifestyles Expo.
The meeting is held on the initiative of the two councillors.

All discussion, debate and outcomes are independent of and not sanctioned by the Tauranga City Council, says Murray.

Boobs on Bikes organiser Steve Crow today confirmed US ‘tattoo model' Michelle Bombshell McGee will be taking part in the Boobs on Bikes Tiki Tour, which as well as Tauranga, will pass through Paeroa, Waihi, Katikati, Matamata, Cambridge and Hamilton on Thursday.

Other stars for the parade include US porn stars Alexis Texas and Ron Jeremy, and Hamilton local Lisa Lewis. There will also be 8-10 ‘locals' says Steve.

Boobs on Bikes organiser Steve Crow today says the application for a parade licence is currently being processed by the Tauranga City Council.

'If they do anything illegal to stop it, we'll be pushing very hard for prosecution,” says Steve.

'We have to jump though hoops to get the permit, which we have applied for, and the boot has to be on both feet.

'I get really tired of these little one man band councillors who get themselves all upset about things, and use public money to throw their weight around.

'At the end of the day we will be doing what we are legally entitled to do.

'I guess I get tired of revisiting the same old ****. It's been to court, Auckland City Council lost. If Tauranga City Council thinks that they can do a better job at stopping then they are welcome to, but we are going ahead.”

There will be one open top vehicle, a limousine and several motorcycles in the Boobs on Bikes Tiki Tour, says Steve.

The tank won't be part of the Tauranga event because of the logistics difficulty of getting it from Hamilton to Tauranga in time for both parades.

'It is supposed to be really good weather,” says Steve.

'We have been doing Boobs on Bikes now for 12 years and we have never had bad weather. I think the man upstairs is in favour of boobs. He did a pretty good job.”
