The North Island Indoor Bowls Team won its third match, on its tour of the South Island, against the West Coast at the Grey Main Hall in Greymouth on Sunday night 36-12.

The northerners came out with all guns blazing and in the first round won all of the disciplines except the women's singles which Dot Watson won against Teri Anderson, Auckland 15-7 and the Coast's men's pairs of David Milne and Kevin Townsend drew with Matthew Ellis, Counties and Paul Smith, Tauranga 6-6.

The second round was again dominated by the northerners dropping just two tight games in the men's fours 10-4 and the women's fours 6-5.

In the final round the northerners won five and a half games to the West Coast's one and a half games.

The West Coast's best combination was the men's four of Steven Bellis, Grant Richardson, John Atkinson and Nick Meldrum who had two good wins against Grant Harvey, Auckland, Robert Lochrie, Manawatu, Rodney Mills and Lance Jenner, Auckland 9-13, 10-4, 10-8 while the men's pair of Dave Milne and Kevin Townsend drew with Matthew Ellis, Counties and Paul Smith, Tauranga 6-6, 10-8, 3-8.

The women's pair of Linda McCurdy, Waikato and Sheree Holmes, Upper Hutt Valley are melding into a tight combination and won two of their three games and drew the other against Alison Third and Leanne Singer 13-6, 10-6, 8-8.

The women's triples of Lois Randall, Hutt Valley, Elizabeth Morrow, North Taranaki and Lorraine Phipps, Tauranga were also unbeaten against Marilyn Wilson, Jackie Brunning and Margaret Milne 19-6, 8-5, 10-5.

The men's singles player Keith Setter, Tauranga had a better night against Kevin Anngow winning 12-7, 13-7, 9-2.

The other unbeaten North combination was the men's triple of Paul Wright, Auckland, Jason Parker, Counties and Brent Biggar, North Wellington who defeated Tom Bill, Ron Watson and Graham Bill 12-6, 10-7, 7-5.
