Morena and good morning SunLive readers, welcome to Saturday and the first day of the weekend.
Apart from some morning clouds and soutwesterlies, the weather's look pretty perfect for the Te Puna School Country Fair in Te Puna and the Ashton Family Circus in Mount Maunganui.
Te Puna School's 2017 Country Fair will be jam-packed day filled with fun activities for young and old down at the school on Te Puna Road from 9am-2pm.
Children can enjoy the coconut shy, plate smash, rifle range shooting, face painting and much more, including the world famous helicopter ping-pong drop is at 1:30pm on the school field.
There'll also be a ton of stalls offering home-baked cakes, slices, muffins, homemade sweets, plants and produce, jams, chutneys, pickles and sauces, secondhand books – basically everything other than the kitchen sink. You can even have hangi for lunch, choice!
The Country Fair takes place at 225 Te Puna Road from 9am-2pm. For more information visit the Te Puna School fair's Facebook page.
If you've ever wanted to run away and join the circus then head down to Mount Maunganui for the Ashton Family Circus, which is part of this weekend's Extravaganza taking place at Blake Park.
Mum Anna, dad Royce, daughter Dylan, 10, and twins Dallas and Jaz, 4, make up the Ashton Family Circus which is celebrating it's second season with the Extravaganza, a classic gypsy fair that tours the country.
'The twins are our ‘wild tigers', while my 10-year-old daughter does aerial hoop and is an amazing dancer. And my husband is the clown – it came to him quite naturally,” laughs Anna
There are 32 other trucks that form the festival market, with lots of market stalls and award-winning musicians playing throughout the day. There's plenty for kids to do as well, such as tug of war, musical bean bags, and sack races.
The Extravaganza gypsy fair is on at Blake Park in Mount Maunganui from 9am-5pm, today and tomorrow, and you can catch the Ashton Family Circus shows at 11.30am and 2.30pm, plus Dylan's magic show at 1pm. Entry is free.
