The North Island Indoor Bowls Team has won its fifth match 30-18 on its South Island tour against a South Canterbury and North Otago combined team at the Timaru Indoor Bowls Stadium, Timaru, on Tuesday night.

The Northerners took a handy 10-4 lead in the first round with wins in the women's singles, triples, men's singles and pairs while the combined team won the women's pairs and fours and the men's triples and fours were drawn.

In the second round the Northerners extended their lead to 22-10 with wins in the women's singles and pairs and the men's pairs, triples and fours. The combined team took out the men's singles and the women's triples and fours were drawn.

In the final round the games were halved. The North won the women's singles, pairs and fours and the men's fours while the combined team was successful in the women's triples, men's singles pairs and triples.

The North Island men's four has had a positional change with Rodney Mills, Auckland moving to lead and Lance Jenner, Auckland to two. They along with skip Grant Harvey, North Taranaki and three Robbie Lochrie, Manawatu were unbeaten with a draw and two wins against Gordon Robb, Mike Howard, Paul Daley and Colin Wederell, North Otago 6-6, 8-4, 7-1.

Teri Anderson, Auckland, the North's women's singles player continued on her winning way, playing superb draw bowls to beat Barbara Reid, South Canterbury, in three straight sets 13-7, 13-3, and 9-7.

Andrew Robb, North Otago, won the men's singles encounter against Keith Setter, Tauranga after dropping the first set 3-15, he came back to win 10-7, 10-7.
