It's a bit of a bleak morning today in the Bay, which means the possibility of getting out and about is slim.
However, if the weather doesn't get too bad, you could always head down to the TECT All Terrain Park Open Day, which is (at time of publication) still on.
Park manager Bill Wheeler says the open day is about encouraging people to try new activities, explore the park, get a little adrenalin rush or simply explore with family and friends.
'The Park's been open for almost seven years now – and in that time we've added a huge number of activities and clubs, all offering exciting and interesting opportunities to try out. Some of our clubs are looking for new members while others love to share their passion with others,” says Bill.
Free parking and bus rides will be available from Aquinas College. The first bus will leave Aquinas College at 9.30am and a more detailed timetable will be available on the Park's website.
Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash unless exercising in the Off-Leash Dog Exercise Area. Parking will be limited, people are advised to take advantage of the free bus and shuttles. Cellphone coverage is minimal – maybe pack a raincoat.
However, if the weather does worsen and the Open Day becomes a write-off, there's still things to do inside! The Bee Interest Group are meeting at the TECT Park as part of the Open Day at 2pm, so you may be able to take shelter with them and learn more about bees. Bring your bee suit, a plate, and a gold coin donation.
If you really want a guaranteed indoor activity, the Tauranga Home Computer Club are meeting at the Arts & Crafts Centre, Elizabeth Street West, from 9.30am – 12.30pm. $3 door charge.
Otherwise, enjoy this day of rest, for tomorrow it all starts again.
