While in Mount Maunganui, the Western Bay of Plenty New Zealand Certified Builders Apprentice Challenge will be held at Mount ITM in Owens Place, starting at 8am.
Each apprentice will take part in a timed challenge over a course of eight hours to construct a high-spec outdoor table and bench seating set project, which will all be donated to local community groups following the challenge.
During the challenge, apprentices will be assessed on reading and interpreting plans, skill level, decision making and ‘employable value'.
The winner at the end of the eight hours will be awarded with a trophy and prizes, plus book their spot at the National Finals to be held in Auckland later this year.
