Three Bay of Plenty women's rugby players have been named in two national teams to represent New Zealand at international tournaments later this year.

Rebecca Kersten and Kendra Reynolds have both been named in the Black Ferns Sevens Development Team to attend the Hokkaido International Sevens Tournament and the Central Coast Sevens in September and October.

In addition to being announced in the Black Fern Sevens Development team, Kersten also has received an interim Black Ferns Sevens contract, to provide cover for the Black Ferns Sevens players potentially selected in the Black Ferns Rugby World Cup squad.

While Claudia Colenso has been named in the New Zealand Universities Training Squad that is preparing and building towards the 2018 World University Games taking place in Namibia during July.

“This is a great opportunity for all three girls to have the opportunity to further develop their skill set and establish themselves on the high performance pathway,' says Bay of Plenty Women's Development Officer Lesley Ketu.

“In addition to this it is great recognition for their continued hard work following on from the Bay of Plenty Women's Sevens program.”

What are your thoughts on the council’s proposal to increase rates 40 per cent over the next three years?

Good, it will help pay to revitilise the city
Not good, rates are high enough now
I’m ok with an increase, but maybe not such a big one
